So You Think You're Smart, Part V
There I was the other night at a poker table, doing my part to stimulate the economy by going all in with 7-2 when someone said this: "So there's this guy who leaves home, goes a little way, turns left, goes a little way, turns left, goes a little way again, then turns left and again goes a little way. When he returns home, a man was is waiting for him. Who is it?"
After a little reflection, I confidently gave the answer. What's yours?

Nice one, Todd.
All that said, I never get that into it. I refuse to place my emotional well-being into the hands of a bunch of strangers on TV! hehe
Interesting analysis. I wonder if any of that has to do with the fact that you live in a state that has no major sports teams whatsoever. Did you grow up in NC? Just wondering.
As for me, I grew up in an area that is very blue collar, and _very_ 'into' it's sports teams. Add the fact that we haven't won a major sports championship since my dad was 13 yrs old (1964) and there is quite an infatuation - almost obsession - with our sports teams. To make matters worse we've been tortured with so many 'near misses' that it's not even funny. For example, the 1997 Indians (baseball) went into the 9th inning of the deciding 7th game of the World Series with the lead and ended up losing.
Yes, it is an emotional investment. A huge one for some of us. We get excited, to the brink of 'winning it all' only to be let down.
My wife, and likely you too, think I'm crazy when I say that if we ever do get a championship I'll cry like a baby. Silly, yes, but true.
[Then again, if the drunken sailor has no legs, is he still a sailor, or rather a disabled Vet? And if he has no legs, how does he drunkenly drive the car? Oh wait, Kotek is on this thread so I suppose the response should be "That's just an edge case" :) ]
Oh, snap!
