Using Evernote to Increase Productivity
I sometimes think I spend as much time with tooling for writing code as I do actually writing it. So it's very important to me that when I'm writing code, I be as efficient and productive as possible.
One thing I constantly battle is the problem of complexity. There are just so many pieces of an application and just keeping track of where they are and exactly what they are doing (and what they need in order to do their job) is, I confess, overwhelming at times.
I have multiple monitors, I have 8 virtual desktops, I keep a notebook with notes in it -- and I still feel I could use more help. My latest additional to the arsenal is Evernote. By taking snapshots of portions of my screen, I'm able to avoid alt-tabbing around looking for the right app, then locating the info I want. Here's a glimpse at what I have open right now...

It's a small thing, but one I've found to be very helpful. Does anyone else do something like this?

I haven't done much with Evernote and programming though, at least not like what you describe. I might write ideas about an app I want to build or go so far as to make tasks inside a note that an application will need done. But that's about where it ends. I've written a little bit about my use of Evernote on my blog if you or anyone else is interested. http://trajiklyhip.com/blog/index.cfm/Evernote
I also like it for strict task management. It's also handy because if i need to share what i'm working on, i just publish the note(s), and point people to the link!

Yeah, but those are Mac apps. Torment me no more with your ultra-cool Mac stuff; I'm suffering enough from Mac envy!
;-)
I posted those just in case there were mac readers which there should be as it seems like everyone has one now.
I got my 5th macbook pro on wed (1st unibody) and not only are they great to work on but man... such a beautiful machine:)
